This little guy celebrated his first birthday this past weekend at our NE Minneapolis Studio. How time flies, seriously, it wasn't that long ago I was photographing him as a newborn!! What a neat job I have to see how these little ones grow.
So, his mom and I coordinated and communicated several weeks before his birthday shoot. Mom knew she wanted some fun, colorful elements. Once we settled on a color scheme for outfits, I made sure to have just the right shade of balloons to match little Mr. Man.
Birthday sessions are so much fun, and they should be. They should be a little bit different than the standard, a little bit more colorful. Let's all get excited about Valentine's Day... Shall we??

So, I suppose that means I should finish putting away my Christmas decorations then. LOL! Seriously, though, it is a fun time at my Minneapolis Photo Studio, because I get to use some fun elements, bright colors, all things cute and lovey! We also seem to have a lot of recently engaged couples who like to shoot their engagement photos around Valentine's Day. How appropriate. Baby, have we been busy at Joy Orcutt Photography! Too busy to do sneak peeks in fact, but I don't think our clients mind too much. We have been shooting family sessions in the studio, outside in the fall leaves, even outside after the snow came along. I can't help but notice a trend in footwear making its way into a lot of our photo sessions this summer. Its Toms shoes! I've had several seniors bring them in, because they wanted their favorite shoes photographed. Well, I think they certainly love the idea behind Toms, buy a pair and Toms gives a pair to child in Ethiopia, who wouldn't agree with that.
We have even noticed it in our wedding photographer this summer too. A bride even wearing Toms shoes under her wedding gown! Totally comfortable and totally supporting children in need! I have a feeling we will only be seeing more of these shoes as the year goes on.

Wow, what a crazy busy senior portrait season it has been at Joy Orcutt Photography! I can say it has been a mix of seniors doing sessions at both the NE Minneapolis studio and on-location. Senior portrait sessions are so awesome because I get to see so many different budding personalities shining through. Such an exciting time in a person's life, so many decisions.
